The cottage was dark and empty... There was nothing inside here. If she didn't know better, Serayna would have thought that there never had been. The memories of happiness and pain swept over her as she looked around this timeless cottage.
She walked around and around the cottage. She wondered why it was for sale. Serayna couldn't help but feel that maybe it was Jacob's death. Maybe it was because the memories from this place were only painful memories. Memories of Jacob. Memories she had to let go of.
Serayna smiled as she remembered the first time she had come here. Jacob thought she was an intruder, but she wasn't then.
"What are you doing here?" Jacob asked holding a sword out in front of him, his eyes filled with fear.
"I'm just walking around. My friend, Anne, she lives here. Or so i'm told." Serayna said.
"She does... just walking, eh?" He said smiling and dropping his sword.
"Just walking." Serayna confirmed.
But back then she was Phoenix. The memories burned with Pain... more pain than she had felt in a long time.

Anne appeared in the doorway that opened into her bedroom. She took one look at Serayna and suddenly, her entire mood was changed...

The memories flowed through Serayna... and she couldn't stop them. She fell on the floor gasping... and convulsing.
Serayna! Save me! Don't... Tell... Anne! A voice screamed in her mind... And Serayna went limp.
Jacob??!! You're... alive?!

Anne watched as Serayna struggled to keep her sanity on the dusty livingroom rug. Normally, she would've jumped into action and tried to help Serayna, but this time was different. She had brought this unto herself, Anne knew... Anne knew everything. She could hear everything. As she read Serayna's thoughts, Anne's heart skipped beat ater beat as she held her breath... Especially when she heard the last bit...
Jacob?!! You're... alive?! Anne broke down sobbing by her bedroom door. She knew it couldn't possibly be him. She fell to the floor with her head in her hands. Something about that voice... Serayna! Save me! Don't... Tell... Anne!... Sounded so familiar... So comforting... So... there It wasn't him. There was no way this was him. Anne had made sure he was at peace after he was attacked by---that man. Anne felt a growl emerge from her chest as she remembered his name...

Serayna's mind spun... Anne was in the room... and now voices filled her head, as if the whole world had been holding their breath for this moment... and it all came rushing out. Serayna saw everything, from the beginning of the magics, to the end of time. She saw her first birth, her first death. The only actual wedding she'd had... how it had been ruined by him. The same man to kill Jacob, the same man that hurt Anne in ways Serayna would never repeat.
This man had done terrors to Anne. To her. To Jacob... maybe his body was at peace. But his mind... no vampire's mind would ever remain at peace.... just silent for many days, or months... or even years. And soon they would recover power to regain themselves. But that always changed between how strong, and how ready their kin were.
He had known them all. He was the reason Destiny and Fakir were orphans, the reason Anne was so innocent of her life before. The reason Serayna...
I promised myself i wouldn't think about it again. That moment. Is gone! Serayna screamed at herself. And she would never again repeat what He had done to her.
He was the reason Anne couldn't remember. He was the reason Anne was happy. He is the only man she ever trusted beyond her family. And he betrayed her. This is what he didn't want her to remember. This is why he erased her. This was his betrayal. His saving himself from her.
That's why he didn't look surprised when he died. Serayna thought. Anne! Serayna screamed as she remembered Anne was in the room. That she could hear everyword, every thought. I'm sorry you had to figure it out this way.

Anne was dead silent and she stared at Serayna for too many long seconds that seemed like hours as they passed. Then, she spun on her heel and ran back into her bedroom, throwing herself on the rug with an old, bulging album in her hands. This was all the memory she had left of her past lives, it was all she couldn't remember of the current one, and now this too was a lie.

The pain subsided and the twitching stopped... Serayna walked over, and hugged Anne, as she fought to regain her memories...

Anne was still sobbing fifteen minutes later when she pushed Serayna away and went to stand by the window. Serayna walked over and put a hand on Anne's shoulder. Anne again lightly pushed her away. She ran out of the room and into the livingroom. Grabbing her bag, she threw the front door open and ran out into the storm. Anne ran all the way down the street until she was at James's house. Knocking on the door, it took 100 percent of her efforts to keep herself standing where she was. The second James answered the door, Anne threw herself into his arms and cried even harder. He held her in a protective hug and slowly walked her into the house, closing the front door and lead her to the sofa. He sat down with her leaning against his chest as she cried uncontrollably. "Shhh Anne, it's alright." He stroked his fingers through her hair, because he knew that that always calmed her down, "Just cry if you want to. We can talk later, when you're feeling better. Shhh..." He rocked her back and forth in an attempt to comfort her. He really had no idea what to do, although Anne said this is what he did best when she really needed him. So, he stuck to what he knew she would have done for him if he was in that situation. He sat there with her for hours until she cried herself to sleep. Even then, he didn't let go of her, didn't stop trying to comfort her, even though he knew she was far beyond consciousness.

Serayna watched as Anne ran to his house. Serayna felt something... a prodding in her side, and her mind. Serayna looked to the left, and saw Selena, on her right Phoenix.
"You know you're jealous. They ahve what you don't have. They not only have each other, but they have what you want more than anything in the world. Don't you think it's time you got what you wanted?" Selena asked. Serayna looked back towards the house, not wanting to answer, because Selena knew the truth.
"Rayna, we're happy for our friends, sure they gloat about it alot, and it hurts you to be in their presence. But they don't know that. The shouldn't have to. They're happy. And yet you had to go and ruin Anne's life." Phoenix started, but Selena fought back.
"We didn't ruin her life! She deserved to know the truth. Tall hooded figure? HA! She watched him kill Destiny and Fakir's parents. It was our right to tell her. She's practically our sister. We were one of her." Selena snapped at Phoenix.
"Ya, but now we're not. We are alone in this world. We always have been, and always will be." Rayna said robotically staring after Anne.
"Rayna, babe, darling we can't think that Anne wouldn't want us to be happy. Because we know she would. And we want her to be happy. And we know that she would've been content with who she was, but we had to go and tell her." Phoenix stated, trying to be a guilty conscience.
"If she doesn't want to know things that we know, if she doesn't want to listen to us, then why does she poke and prod around in our mind. Part of a mind reader's abilities, is to shut out other's thoughts. She could've done so at any point in time." Serayna snapped. Phoenix frowned, and realized she was probably right.
"But now what do we do?" Selena said, noting that the argument was over.
"We leave... our kind is destined to travel alone, and to be alone. Maybe we knew it all along. That we wouldn't get anywhere with hoping things that wouldn't come true. It's time for us to leave. Alone, like we always will be, like we always have been." Serayna said. Selena and Phoenix nodded.
"Good bye, good luck on the fairy tale ending... with a murderer." Selena whispered towards the other house as the three walked off, disappearing for the last time...
