Fakir and Destiny walked up the cold stone steps and walked into the foyer. "Mom!?" Fakir yelled as he let go of Destiny's hand. "MOM?!" Fakir asked loudly again. Destiny looked at a small table with a vase of dead flowers. Then she saw alittle note tucked under the glass. "Fakir, she's not home," Destiny said quietly as she opened the note. Fakir walked over and read it aloud:
Children,
I have moved to another city for a refresh on my lifestyle. I took all the money from the house, so you won't be able to spend it for yourselves. My things are gone from the house except the dead flowers that was on this letter. Children, I think you are old enough to know about our relationship between the three of us. Fakir, since you have been growing up, you have always been a selfish boy. And Destiny, you are a disgrace to me. All the love was a lie. I only loved your father because of his money, now that he's gone, I have inherited YOUR part of the inheritance money with my share. Fakir, even though your sixteen, you are now eligable to take care of that disgrace of a daughter..
Will never miss you.
Sincerely,
Miss Claude G.
"So she pretended to care about us just because of Dad!?" Destiny sniffled. "I can't believe our lives were a lie, I HATE IT!" Fakir said as he ripped the note into pieces and threw them everywhere. "Fakir! Please!" Destiny said as she grabbed his arm. "Don't be angry! I want to see us taking care of each other! Not you hating Mom!" Destiny exclaimed. She pushed off of him and ran upstairs to her bedroom. She slammed the door shut. Fakir thought for a second. How could have this day gone any better? Mom's gone, I'm angry, and Destiny's upset.
Fakir thought of a idea. He ran upstairs to his bedroom and got an old teddy bear from their father, then went to Destiny's room. "Destiny?" Fakir said when he knocked on the door. "GO AWAY!" Destiny screamed. Fakir could tell she was crying. "Destiny, I'm sorry honey, I didn't mean to get angry, will you let me in please?," Fakir said leaning against the door. "Just go away Fakir! Mom said I'm terrible enough as it is!" Destiny answered as she hugged her pillow. "Your not terrible Destiny! Your a beautiful girl who I've known for years!" Fakir said starting to get angry all over again. "See?! Your doing it again!" Destiny screamed. Numerous tears streamed down her face. "Destiny, if you let me in, I'll stop," Fakir said as he tried to calm himself down. "You promise?" Destiny asked. "Promise," Fakir said. "You can come in, the door's unlocked". Fakir opened the door and saw Destiny on her bed.
"I have alittle something for you," Fakir said as he held the teddy bear behind his back. "What?" Destiny sniffled. Fakir held out the bear. Destiny took it and examined it carefully. "Remember when Dad got this for the both of us and I got it because you also got that jewelry box?," Fakir asked as he saw the teddy bear in Destiny's arms. "No, not really....," Destiny said softly. Fakir put two pillows alittle against the bed frame and layed on it. He offered Destiny to lay next to him. Destiny crawled over and layed in his arms. "We should get some rest, we've had a long day today," Fakir suggested. "Probably," Destiny said. She yawned and rested her head on Fakir's shoulder. Fakir reached on his left to grab a warm fuzzy throw blanket to cover himself and Destiny. Then he lightly rested his head on Destiny's and together, they were fast asleep.
